Thunder Creek When I first met Tom he told me he never tied flies. Then he said he tied a few but he wasn't any good at it. Then he said he gave up tying flies because it made more sense to concentrate on making rods, and to get his flies from guys like Al Troth. And then he showed me these elegantly tied and stunningly beautiful Thunder Creek Minnow--that he tied himself. I should have known better. I should have known one of history's best fly rod designer/makers would also make a damn nice fly. Tom holding fish Tom Follow the Morgan Twitch link at screen left to learn how to fish these flies. I was lucky enough to get a personal lesson and I'm now a real believer. I'm a creature of habit: I always double haul when I'm fishing streamers--even if it's a short cast I still tug gently on the line in both directions. And I almost always do the Morgan Twitch.

Tom has a box of a dozen or so Thunder Creek Minnows but he only allowed me to photograph this one looker. Thunder Creeks were a favorite fly he told me. And most of the good looking ones got used. Leaving only the ragged ones. With this one exception.
